RECONOMY Snippet: Creating Opportunities for Self-Employment of Young People in Tourism/Hospitality
While education aims to prepare skilled, reliable, and relevant workers and members of society, and for decades it has managed to do so, currently the system cannot keep up with the speed of changes and needs. The changes in the labor markets are dramatic and fast.
Let us zoom into Armenia, more specifically the tourism/hospitality sector.
The inputs of the non-formal skills providers are especially important, but the existing initiatives do not match the existing and upcoming needs of the private sector operating in this sector. In order to tackle this obstacle, RECONOMY partnered with the Armenian Hikers’ Association to develop a training course entitled “Hiking Tourism” designed for young people seeking self-employment.
Here is a story of four friends who decided to open their travel agency after taking the training course.
