RECONOMY Snippet: Creating Opportunities for Ukrainian Refugees in Moldova
Since February 2022, Moldova has hosted more Ukrainian refugees per capita than any other country in Europe. By mid-December 2022, over 645,000 people—out of whom 64% were women—had crossed the border. RECONOMY aims to provide opportunities for Ukrainian refugees and vulnerable locals to lessen that burden and restore their livelihoods.
Through RECONOMY, the Beetroot Academy, a social enterprise, with a mission to enable people to set and grow digital economy careers, organizes and provides tech education and career development solutions. The analysis of the Moldovan ICT-BPO sector from the labor market perspective has shown that the underperforming areas are tech education and skills development.
By equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills, these courses will improve the participants’ chances of finding decent employment in Moldova as full-time employees or freelancers at a local or international tech company.
